what it is
A toolkit for orchestrating many AI coding agents at once. It rebuilds Steve Yegge’s Gas Town as a proper SDK, with Yegge’s blessing. Gas Town came out of his viral Medium post and let developers coordinate 20 to 30 coding agents in parallel on the same codebase.
People attached to the project:
- Chris Sells, a dev-tools veteran who grew Google’s Flutter to 3M developers
- Julian Knutsen, a former technical lead at Block (Square)
- Steve Yegge, who wrote the original Gas Town
- Mike Taylor, Every’s head of tech consulting, who reviewed it with early access
what I found
- Every’s review (Mike Taylor’s “Mini-Vibe Check”) called it “a glimpse of the future that’s not (yet) ready for practical use.”
- On 2026-05-24 the repo had 783 stars, 249 forks, 263 open issues, 236 PRs and 40 releases, the latest v1.1.0.
compared to
- Paperclip works a layer up. It runs a company of agents with org charts, budgets and governance, where Gas City coordinates coding agents on one codebase.
